Get to Know Me

I’m not an open book. I’m more of an open browser window.

Robert Abramski

I have an eye for design and a brain for code. With these eyes and this brain, I make clean and usable websites. I am process driven and somehow still creative. Having creativity and being process oriented allows me to experiment and never forget the fundamentals. I find a home for every piece of content, give weight to the important stuff and put it together in a way that looks and feels right.

As a Professional

I Enjoy What I Do

I’m not in it for the money. I continue to work in this profession because I truly enjoy doing it. I’d rather be in a startup that is making very little money with a team of creative, dedicated people than stuck making bank in an established mega-office with a bunch of rule book carrying bureaucrats.

I enjoy what I do so much that when I’m not doing work for clients, I spend my free time making my own projects. My projects outside of work vary from political to open source to experimental. Regardless of the project, I learn and continue to grow on every project and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I Keep Up With the Joneses

I’m always paying attention to what other designers are up to and seeing where I stand in comparison. I integrate what I like into my own toolbox and even try to be helpful when I see something that needs work.

I am versed in a number of programming languages and the list keeps growing. This list continues to adapt to the fluctuating market. Once you are done changing, you are done with technology. In the world of the web, innovation is the norm and so slowing down is not an option. This creates a constant learning curve which isn’t for creatures of comfort, it is for the seekers of knowledge. I enjoy the challenge that comes along with learning and mastery of new skills and technologies.

As a Full Time Person

I Believe in Stuff

Maybe I’m overly ambitious, but I just don’t want to do well in life, I also want to do good. I believe profit can be made without plunder. So, I pay attention to a triple bottom line of profit, people and planet. I try to make choices that benefit others or at the very least, I try to do no harm. I give back to the community with open source software, constructive criticism and solutions. I cut down on use of fossil fuel by telecommuting whenever possible. I use public transit, compost and try to use less plastic. I reduce, reuse then recycle. It’s a daily struggle and I make adjustments to maximize my efficiency everyday, personally and professionally. It’s what makes me a full time person.
